Asneh was founded on the principles of using only natural fabrics and  social sustainability. As we learn, individually and collectively, we strive to constantly improve our practices. Sustainability is part of life, and just as life is complex so is sustainability. We have chosen six focal points, which we explain more about below. However, if we should sum it up in one key sentence, sustainability is respect. Respect, and responsibility,  towards nature and other people. Every item we sell has a sustainability profile, which you can view on a per item basis  in the shop.

LOW CARBON FOOTPRINT

Travelled to a maximum of two countries during production.

When we create our designs, we take care to plan the production process so that it involves minimum travelling for our designs. A large part of the carbon footprint involved in clothes production, is due to poor planning and time pressure that results in clothes travelling forth and back to several countries during their production. We plan carefully and always make sure to allow for enough time – we don’t believe in fast moving fashion anyway. For this reason, we also aim to produce as close to the origin of the fabrics and fibres as possible.

NATURAL FIBRES

These biodegrade more quickly than synthetic materials, and are better for the environment, animals and your body.

We only use natural fabrics and fibres, and stay clear of man made fibres. Natural fabrics and fibres work in harmony with your body, and are better at regulating heat and controlling bacteria growth. Synthetics trap bacteria against your body, require a lot of washing and release non-biodegradable  micro- and nano plastic particles during wear and wash.

ECOFRIENDLY DYES

Coloured with AZO free, OEKO-TEX dyes.

HAND MADE

We believe in quality and artisanship, and use a make use of a lot of hand made details in our work. The amount and the exact work varies from item to item, depending on design and the nature of the fabric.

HAPPY WORKERS

Social sustainability is a key component of our brand DNA, which is why we never outsource our production to third parties as we want to know who has made our clothes.  As a minimum we require that all our workers are paid fair wages. Most of the people who’ve created our clothes are paid above national minimum, social security contributions, sick leave, pension contribution.

NO CHILD LABOUR

All our clothes are made by skilled and trained adults.
